Welcome to the newly launched Japanese Vocabulary Trainer.
What is this?
I created this site because I've recently been studying Japanese, had been learning from a couple of different books, and found I wasn't getting anywhere from just trying to get the vocab to stick by reading it many times. So I created this to try to help learning the vocabulary to complement the other study materials I was using.
The general idea behind it is that anybody that is logged in can create groups of vocabulary that they can then go on to drill in the practice page. If they add a word to the vocab group that isn't in the dictionary, then it will add it to the dictionary. Anybody can also update words in the dictionary. Is this dangerous? Well, time will tell, but I'm auditing all changes made, so everything should be reversible. I've also added the ability to add pictures to words, I believe that pictures will help by adding context - aiding the recall of words.
Anyway, have a play about, and let me know what you think.
What do I need to do to get started
Have you created an account? If not, click here to do so. There are a few things you can't do if you're not logged in - you're unable to create or modify anything, and you can also only have the multiple choice options displayed in hiragana rather than kanji / furigana.
Once you've created an account, you can create your own groups of words here, you can test yourself here, and you can update your profile (including preferences such as how answers are displayed) here.
